The importance of outdoor play
We all know that getting out in the sun is good for us, by why is it so important for children to have access to outdoor spaces? The environment is the second teacher, it has the ability to further develop children's cognitive development as well as phycological, social and emotional and physical well being. Children are naturally drawn to outdoor play and there are numerous benefits of outdoor play: it allows them to explore their environment, develop muscle strength and coordination, and gain self-confidence. Playing actively outdoors also increases flexibility, fine and gross motor skills, and is related to the development of a wide variety of physical skills, including those involved in sports.
